Capt. George Cole Manders Sr., 58, of Daphne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born to Peggy and George Manders, both of whom preceded him in death, he was a man whose presence filled every room he entered. Known for his sharp wit, generous heart, and immeasurable love for his family, he built a life rich in love, laughter, and hard work. His maritime legacy spanned three generations before him and was carried on by his son, a thread of saltwater and tradition woven deep into who he was.
George shared many years of marriage with Pamela Turner Manders, and together they raised their children, Cole Manders and Henley Manders, who were the joys of his life. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret Manders Pugh, her husband, Paul Pugh, and Jenny Manders, as well as brothers- and sisters-in-law Debra Moore and her husband, Jeff Moore, and Keith Turner and his wife, Laurie Turner. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Those who knew Georgie will remember his unwavering loyalty, his knack for storytelling, and his ability to make people feel seen and valued. His life was one of deep connections — to family, to friends, and to the community he called home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association, a reflection of his generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.
