Georgia Tsami Forte

Georgia Tsami Forte of Spanish Fort, AL passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2024, at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Franklin Forte. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Charles) Cox of Spanish Fort, AL, son Gary (Jean) Forte of Troy, AL, sister Olympia Katsiadramis of Athens, Greece, granddaughter Mallory (Allen) Floyd of Troy, AL, great grandson Clint Floyd of Troy, AL, and niece Nota Katsiadramis of Athens, Greece.

Georgia was born on September 20, 1940, in the Peloponnese region of Greece. Her grandfather had narrowly escaped The Great Fire of Smyrna in 1922, fleeing with his family to the seaside town of Gytheio, where Georgia was later born. The family eventually settled in the city of Athens, where she was raised. While in her 20s, she moved to Rome, Italy and then Stuttgart, Germany for a little adventure. She laughed that she and her friends would sometimes go without food so they could afford nice clothes. In 1963, she made the journey to America, eventually ending up in Pensacola, FL where she met and married the love of her life. They raised their family in his hometown of Selma, AL, and spent their lives enjoying life to the fullest. There were many weekends at the beach, boating on the Alabama River, and frequent trips back home. They retired to Fairhope, AL in 2013 where they made new friends, and peacefully spent their final years together. Georgia, who was known for her sweet and gentle demeanor, love of animals, and pride in her Greek heritage, will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Our family would like to extend a thank you to Visiting Angels and Gentiva Hospice. 

A small graveside service will be held at Buena Vista Memorial Cemetery at a later time.

 In lieu of flowers, she would be honored for memorial donations to be made to Friends of the Mobile Animal Shelter.
