In Loving Memory of Gil Rhodes

Gilbert Neal Rhodes, Jr. (Gil), age 82, a resident of Foley, Alabama passed away Monday, September 8th, 2025, following an extended illness. He attended Montgomery County High School, Ramer, Alabama and Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving two terms throughout the South Pacific during the Vietnam War era. He was employed in the hospitality industry for many years, managing properties for Sheraton Premier Management, Hilton Hotel Management, and Holiday Inn, Inc. He later opened Mr. G’s Restaurant and the Carriage House Restaurant in Montgomery, Alabama, before he relocated to Baldwin County, Alabama to be near other family members. Before officially retiring, he taught basic education courses at Faulkner Community College.

He was preceded in death by three (3) sisters, Jane Rhodes Talley, Freddie Rhodes White, Donna Ruth Rhodes. Survivors include his brother, Barry Rhodes (Angie) of Brandon, Ms., four (4) nephews, Kyle Raines, and Ken (Michelle) Raines of Fairhope, Justin Raines, Emily (Will) Kelley of Fairhope, Alabama, Barrett Rhodes (Linda) of Scottsboro, Alabama, Bradley (Holly) Rhodes of Perry, Georgia, and niece, Allyson Herrmann (Joseph) of Forsyth, Georgia. Other survivors include nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

Visitation services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, starting at 8:15 a.m., until 9:00 a.m., followed by a service from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., in Foley, Alabama, (Baldwin County) at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a military funeral with honors by the Department of Defense at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama at 11;00 a.m. The family will accept flowers and if anyone wishes to make a memorial contribution, please contact St, Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
