Gwenda Diane Wood

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Gwenda Diane Wood of Fairhope, AL who departed this life at the age of 74 on December 20, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 22, 1951 in Mobile, AL. Gwen lived a life rooted in devotion, strength, and kindness. She was a loving mother to her three children and a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and purpose. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave of herself freely, always offering guidance, comfort, and unconditional love.

Gwen was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering support for those she loved.

Whether through her words of encouragement, her sweet smile, or simply her presence, she made everyone around her feel cared for and valued. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the values she instilled in her family.

She is survived by her three children, Kimberly Wood El-Amin (Saed) of Tuscaloosa, David Carter Wood II (Jana) of Atlanta and John Clifford Wood (Rachelle) of Fairhope and her six grandchildren, Maddie, Mason, Carter, Ethan, Camilla, and CoCo, whom she adored; and a host of extended family and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband loving husband of 43 years David Carter Wood, father and mother Doris and Shelby Brooks.

A celebration of Gwen's life will be held on December 29, 2025 at 2:00 (visitation) and service at 3:00 (prayer following the service at Memory Gardens of Fairhope). Visitation and Service will be held at Wolfe-BayView Funeral Home of Fairhope, AL.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, wisdom, and spirit will continue to guide and comfort all who knew her.
