Harold Robert “Paw-Paw” Joiner, a life-long resident of Elberta, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 30th, 2025, at the age of 76. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 14th, 1949, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Paw-Paw was the loving husband of Joyce Diane “Maw-Maw” Joiner, of 57 years, and the proud father of Teresa Joiner, Amy Joiner, Greg Joiner, and Eric (Nechole) Joiner. He was the devoted grandfather of Elizabeth (Will) Fairbanks, Ali (Justin) Doyle, Tyler Thomaston, Chelcie (Kaleb) McCain, McKensi Hart, Austin Thomaston, Robert (Jordyn) Joiner, Katlin Monti, Hunter (Jamie) Thomaston, Easton Frank, Katy Claire Doyle, Kaylee Frank, Estelle Doyle, and Finley Tate Doyle. He was the proud Great-grandfather of Brantlee, Fisher, Lawrence, and Oaklan Thomaston; Sullivan and Henry Fairbanks; Waylon Joiner; and Korah McCain.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Robert and Mazie Ola Joiner, and his sisters Nancy Williamson and Myra Ann Joiner.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brother Bob (Mary Ellen) Joiner. He leaves behind many extended family members, and lifelong friends .
Paw-Paw loved being outdoors, rabbit hunting, deer hunting, and fishing. When he wasn’t outdoors, he could watch endless episodes of Cheyenne and Gun Smoke on T.V., and he loved listening to Jimmy Swaggart’s music. Paw-Paw will be most remembered for his deep love for family, his loving arms that rocked so many babies throughout the years, his story telling, his mischievous grin and infectious laughter, and a lifetime of memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
