Harry passed away from complications of multiple myeloma. He grew up in Andalusia, Alabama as the youngest of four boys where all family helped in King’s Cafeteria and enjoyed recreation on Gannt Lake.

Harry graduated from Livingston University and immediately entered flight school at Pensacola Naval Air Station. He retired from the US. Naval Reserves after 22 years of service and was a charter member of the National Museum of Naval Aviation. Harry was a long-term real estate broker and developer. Lafitte Cove Marina, Peg Leg’s Oyster Bar on Pensacola Beach and Blakely Plantation in Baldwin County, Alabama were among his building projects. Harry was the first president of the Pensacola Beach Business Association and served on the board of directors for Little Lagoon Preservation Society. He had many diverse interests and was an avid bowhunter, fisherman, restored antique jeeps, and was an avocational archeologist. He coordinated archeology digs on Little Lagoon and claimed to have located the first prehistoric trade canal used by early Indian tribes. He enjoyed several local and national publications about the canal discovery. Harry was a past member of Pensacola Beach United Church of Christ and current member of St. Andrew by the Sea.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Harry King, Jr. He is survived by wife, Anita King, daughter, Katy King Elliott (Rod), granddaughter, Kayla Shay Rose, and Kayla’s father, Paul Rose all of Gulf Shores, brothers, Joel King of Panama City, Florida, Wayne King of Brewton, Alabama, and (late) Mark King of Andalusia, Alabama.

Memorial service will be at St. Andrew by the Sea church (17263 West Fort Morgan Road, Gulf Shores, Al. 36542) on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:00am.
