Herbert Keith Wood

Herbert Keith Wood, born in Leaksville, NC on September 25, 1941, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family members. He was a longtime resident of Elberta, Alabama.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Conner Wood and Margaret Curry Wood and his sister, Carolyn Wood Owens.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret “Betty” Wood; three sons, Robert (Carolyn Ann), Randy (Elizabeth) and Ryan (Maggie); eight grandchildren, Nathan (Tonnie), Zach, Conner, Jacob, Lauren, Raegan, Wyatt and Carsyn; two great grandchildren, Eli and Evie; sister, Patricia Somers; nephews, Tim Somers and Brian Owens; numerous other relatives and friends.

Keith was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He later worked at the Eastern Shore Courier and the Independent in Robertsdale prior to attending Trade School for AC and Refrigeration. He retired from the U.S. Postal Services as a Rural Mail Carrier in Bay Minette.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Elberta at 10:00am. Visitation will begin at 9:00am.

Interment will follow funeral service at Elberta Public Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Bartholomew’s Building Fund, or the American Heart Association.
