Howard Dean Sherman
December 23, 1947 – October 25, 2026
Howard Dean Sherman passed away peacefully on October 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories.
Howard was a lifelong resident of the Vernant Park community in Foley, Alabama, and proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran. He later worked as a shipwright and had a talent for detail. He embraced life's simple pleasures, including fishing from a creek bank, gardening, boating, making smoked mullet, and spending quality time with those he loved. Howard lived a quiet, peaceful life surrounded by the things that brought him joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Lula Sherman, and his siblings Alice Marie (Pee Wee) Styron, Margarie Hall, Jack Sherman, Lowell Sherman, Thomas Sherman, and Roger Sherman.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Sherman; son, Charles Sherman (Lori); daughters, Temple Smith (Stuart) and Cherish Schlayer (Shawn); eight grandchildren, Brittney, Lucian, May, Trinity, Coral, Victoria, Corey, and Joshua; and three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jasmine, and Olivia. He is also survived by his sisters, Earline Vasquez and Betty Hornberger, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
May we honor Howard by remembering the special ways he touched our lives and the lasting influence he had on each of us. Rather than focusing on the void his passing leaves behind, may we cherish the memories and love he leaves in our hearts until we are reunited with him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Stan Mahoney Youth Fishing Tournament. Please include a note designating your gift for the Howard Sherman Memorial.
