J D McLendon

J D McLendon, age 93, a long-time resident of Pensacola, Florida and currently residing in Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

J D previously attended Community Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida.

He retired from Monsanto after 26 years. He was a loving father, and grandfather.

J D proudly served the United States Marine Corps being assigned to George Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division during the Korean conflict. George Company was the most highly decorated Marine company in the Korean conflict.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Betty LaRue McLendon; his parents, John W. McLendon and Chellie Estelle McLendon; sisters, Chellie Mae Robinette, Lula Estelle Wilson, Mattie Lee Borland, and Nancy Lois Faulk; brothers, John Wilmer McLendon, William Quincy McLendon, and Henderson Charles McLendon.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Daphne Clark; son, Jack McLendon; daughter, Judy Jernigan; stepson, Stanley (Debbie) Fant; stepdaughter, Susan Fant; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:00 am at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
