In Loving Memory of James Bragg

James Bragg, the first son born to Willie and Mary Bragg, was born on September 23, 1960, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he graduated from Tyner High School. James passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and service.

James committed his life to Christ in the early 1990s, dedicating himself to the Lord through his many roles, including Elder, Pastor, First Adjutant of the Northwest Florida Jurisdiction, and Regional Bishop. Known for his unwavering faith, honesty, and deep respect for God, James firmly believed in being either "hot or cold" in service to the Lord, never lukewarm.

A man of many talents, James was a true jack of all trades. He was skilled in mechanics, handyman work, and countless other practical areas. His greatest joy, however, came from his work as an over-the-road commercial driver. Embracing the open road, James loved meeting new people and marveling at the beauty of God's creation. He also had a passion for grilling and often hosted family cookouts, cherishing the time spent with his loved ones over great food and laughter.

James leaves behind a loving family that will forever honor his memory: his father, Willie Bragg; his mother, Mary Bragg; his children, James Bragg Jr. (son of Gloria Buckingham), Ashley Bragg-Smith, and Jasmine Bragg (daughters of Carolyn Young); his son-in-law, Jamarr Smith; and his grandchildren, Jamarr Jr., Khloe, Gabrielle, Aliyah, Ethan, Noah, and Aubrey. He is also survived by his siblings, Eric Bragg, Maurice Bragg, Kevin Bragg, Sean Bragg, Sonya Bragg-Page, Sharon Heard, and Barbara Bragg, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins, Godchildren, and many others whose lives he touched.

Though James is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his faith, his service, and the love he shared with everyone he encountered.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wolfe-Bayview Daphne Chapel on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1:00pm.
