James Steven Cason, 68, a resident of Spanish Fort, passed away into the Lord's hands on March 2, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Steve Cason; mother, Dorothy Jean Fomby Cason; brother, Robert Hathcock; grandparents, and his beloved dog, Buddy.
He is survived by his sisters, La Nora Morrison (late Lum) of Spanish Fort, and Denise Cason of Sylacauga; nieces, Kimberly (Ron) Verboom of Long Beach, MS, and Kristian Morrison of Spanish Fort; and great nephews, Ty Roberson of Huntsville and Erick Roberson of Kansas City, MO. Best friend Kerri Rockwood.
We would like to thank his doctors for taking such good care of him: Dr. Keith Varden, Dr. Richard Menger, Dr. Sameh Syed, Dr. Andrew Freeman, Dr. John Andrew Cox, Dr. David Thomason, and Dr. David T. Trice.
James graduated from Irmo High School in South Carolina and completed 2 years of PreĀMed at the University of South Carolina but his path led him to become a Chef. He was a die-hard Clemson fan when not rooting for Alabama. James was a member of the Christian Church.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
