James Franklin Chavers, born on May 5, 1944, in Mobile, Alabama, left this world peacefully at home on September 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a remarkable individual whose influence extended beyond his numerous accomplishments and deep commitments.
James achieved significant recognition in the music industry as the owner of a recording studio on Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee. His entrepreneurial spirit carried him through various ventures, showcasing not only his creative talents but also his business acumen. He was an artist from a young age and had a deep-seated love for fishing and traveling, which enriched his life and provided joy for those around him.
His academic journey began at TR Miller High School in Brewton, Alabama, where he graduated in 1962. He furthered his education at Auburn University, earning a bachelor's degree in Architecture and a degree in Theology from the University of the South. During this time, he was actively involved in various organizations, becoming a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, and the Young Republicans Club of America.
James will be remembered for his kind, generous, and funny demeanor. His love for family was evident in every aspect of his life, especially in the cherished moments spent with his daughters, Ashley Callery (John) and Alice Baker. He was also the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: James Clayton Huxford Baker (Kiersten), Noah Adkins Chavers Baker (Olivia), Alice Camille McNeill (Ian),Stephen Graham Miller Baker, Porter Calvitt Callery and Miller Elizabeth Callery. Futhermore, he was a proud great grandfather of his great-grandson, John Banks Huxford Baker, who brought him immense joy.
A longtime supporter of the Heritage Foundation of Williamson County in Franklin, Tennessee, James was also honored to be a Kentucky Colonel and was an active member of the Franklin Rotary Club. His legacy of service and community support will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
James is survived by his sister, Cynthia Renee Chavers, alongside his daughters and grandchildren, who carry forward the values and love he instilled in them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Chavers, and his beloved wife, Linda Huxford Chavers.
As we remember James Franklin Chavers, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by kindness, creativity, and an unwavering love for his family and community.
