James Benjamin Collier, Jr.

James B. Collier, age 82, passed away on June 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

James, or “Jimmy,” as he was often known, was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell James Collier, and his parents, James B. Collier, Sr., and Hazel Wanda Morris Collier.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Tonya Bryars Collier, and his daughters, Shirley Collier Delchamps, Candace Paige Collier, and Cara Collier Hutchison, as well as his brother, Danny J. Collier. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Braeden Collier Delchamps, Elise Catherine McFeeley, Audrey Grace McFeeley, Albert Williams Hutchison V, and Luke Bennett Hutchison.

James was born in Mobile, Alabama, and graduated from Murphy High School, class of 1960. For 28 years, James worked for Nabisco Brands, Inc., during which time he also headed the Grand Bay Sheriff Patrol Reserve Unit. James’ law enforcement career continued following his retirement from Nabisco, and he was eventually promoted to Chief of Police, 13th Judicial Court of the State of Alabama.

A private memorial service and interment will be held at Colony Cemetery in Fairhope, Alabama. Condolences may be offered at www.wolfefuneralhomes.com.
