James Morgan Ellis, lovingly known as Jimmy, was born on June 21, 1941, in Troy, Alabama. He passed away on November 2, 2025, in Fairhope, Alabama, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jimmy had a distinguished career in sales, representing Burford Caterpillar for 15 years and then Beard Equipment for an impressive 28 years. His dedication to his work was matched only by his love for life and the connections he formed along the way. An alumnus of Troy State University, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, which he used to further his career in sales.
Alongside his professional achievements, Jimmy proudly served his country as a Military Policeman in the US Army, exemplifying the values of duty and service that defined much of his life.
His personality was as vibrant as his interests; Jimmy was an avid golfer known for his weekly games with friends and for starting the Ellis golf group, a testament to his belief in the power of camaraderie. He also found joy in fishing, boating, and hunting, embracing the outdoors with open arms.
Jimmy never met a stranger; his warmth and approachability drew others to him. He cherished spending time with family and friends, creating countless cherished memories along the way. He is remembered fondly by those who knew him, especially by his forever special friend, Becky Myer.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, John Ellis, and his mother, Huey Ellis, but his legacy of kindness, friendship, and zest for life will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside service to honor Jimmy's life will be held on November 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama. The ceremony will provide an opportunity for those who loved him to come together, celebrate his life, and share their memories.
Jimmy leaves behind a rich legacy of love, friendship, and unyielding spirit that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
