James William Howell, Sr.

James William Howell, Sr, 71, a resident of Gulf Shores, Alabama and a former resident of Birmingham, passed away Monday, August 10, 2020. He was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, Gulf Shores where he served on the vestry and schoolboard. He was a banker from 1982 until his retirement. He loved his family, friends, his favorite chair and dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents Elton and Mary Howell; sister, Nancy McCreary; brothers, Lee and Sid Howell and granddaughter, Rebekah Brown. He is survived by his wife, Joy Howell; son, James (Shauna) Howell, Jr.; grandson, James Elton Howell; brother, Donald Howell; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A private Memorial Service will be held at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, Friday, August 14, 2020 followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM at Fisher’s Restaurant, Orange Beach.
