James Richard Stinebaugh, Jr.

Dr. James Richard Stinebaugh, of Fairhope, AL, departed this life on January 10, 2026. He was born to parents Richard and Donna. Jay graduated from Indiana University in 1982, where he was a member of Sigma Chi, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with Phi Beta Kappa distinction. Graduation from Indiana medical school soon followed, and he then completed his residency and fellowship in cardiology at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.

He happily worked as a cardiologist in the Indianapolis area for several years while raising a young family. The family decided to move to Fairhope, AL, where Jay joined Cardiology Associates. He ultimately became a partner in the practice and, outside of work, could be found on the golf course. A lifelong sports fanatic, he enjoyed cheering on his teams: the Indiana Hoosiers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Indianapolis Colts.

Jay is survived by his wife, Marty Gail Stinebaugh; his three sons, Michael Stinebaugh, Matthew Stinebaugh, and Geoffrey Stinebaugh; his step-son, Chase Sedlack; and his brothers, Doug Stinebaugh and Craig Stinebaugh. There will be a service for Jay at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, AL.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 am.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the service time.

Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Jay’s name to Shepard's Place Foundation Adult Day Respite.
