IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Brinson
White-Spunner
March 21, 1941 – February 21, 2026
Celebration of Life
Christ Church Cathedral
Starts at 2:00 pm (Central time)
Jane Brinson White-Spunner passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, after a brief illness. She was listening to her cherished Irish music and surrounded by love as she joined her husband, Lucky, in the arms of Jesus.
Jane was born on March 21, 1941, in Mobile, Alabama. She was among the first graduating class of Julius T. Wright School for Girls and later attended Auburn University, where she was a proud member of Kappa Delta sorority. After one year, she returned to Mobile and began working at Merchants Bank.
It was there, in Mobile, that Jane met Lucky, the love of her life. Together, they embraced adventure in every form—even turning a simple picnic into something special. Their love of travel took them to many countries, with Ireland holding a particularly dear place in their hearts as they connected with family there. Jane and Lucky shared a beautiful marriage filled with laughter, friendship, and treasured times with loved ones, especially their grandchildren, and many memorable years spent in the North Carolina mountains. Jane spent her life creating beauty—whether through cooking, sewing, or tending to her garden, where she could often be found for hours at a time. Friends knew they were especially dear to her when she arrived with a mason jar of her prized sweet peas, lovingly nurtured through winter to bloom just in time for sharing.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Paul “Lucky” White-Spunner; her parents, Paul Parr and Janet Leatherbury Brinson; and her brother, Paul Parr Brinson, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Perri White-Spunner McKay (Bo Benedict), her son, Reverend Kenneth Paul White-Spunner III (Carrie); her grandchildren, Annabel McKay Setterstrom (Steven) and Samuel White-Spunner McKay; her brothers, Edward Leatherbury Brinson and Richard Shields Brinson (Charlotte); along with her beloved nieces and nephews, and many cherished cousins and friends.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, February 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Cathedral, 115 South Conception Street, Mobile, Alabama. A reception in the Chapter House will immediately follow the service.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses on the second floor at Thomas Hospital, the LTAC team at Mobile Infirmary, and especially the compassionate staff at The Retreat at Saad’s Hospice. Special thanks to her nurses, Kelly and Andrea, who lovingly cared for Jane and supported our family as Mama began her journey home. Just as she wished, Jane’s final days were spent surrounded by beauty and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Christ Episcopal Cathedral or a charity of your choice.
