Janet Ramsay Allen, 80, was born January 30, 1944, in Chattanooga, TN, and went home to be with her Lord on September 19, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents: David Brownlie Ramsay, Jr. and Helen Sills Ramsay; brothers-in-law: Basil Royce Allen and Ravon Eugene Allen; and stepson, Eugene Allen.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Wayne Allen; loving brother, David (Nancy) Ramsay III, of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law, Janice Allen Williamson, of Saraland, AL; daughters, Lori (David) Harris of Mobile, AL, and Christie Halloran of Birmingham, AL; stepdaughter, Dee Dee (Vernon) Fryman of Cynthiana, KY; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two nephews, numerous extended family members in her home state of Tennessee and many loving friends.
Jan and Bill were married in Fairhope on February 19, 1990, and have resided in Daphne and Coffeeville, Alabama for the past 34 years of their married life. Jan was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt who will be dearly missed. She was an exemplary “people person” who never met a stranger and who enjoyed her work as an administrative assistant at the former Callahan & Associates in Fairhope, AL and as admissions coordinator at the former Mercy Medical Center in Daphne, AL.
Her greatest joy in life was being “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A deeply spiritual person, Jan believed in guardian angels and the power of prayer, especially during her two bouts with breast cancer, and she was always quick to offer “good Baptist prayers” to her family and friends in their time of need.
A private graveside service will be held at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in memory of Mrs. Allen be made to your favorite charity.
