Jerrie Inez Doggett

December 10, 1937 — July 8, 2025

Robertsdale

Jerrie Inez Doggett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and steadfast friend, entered her eternal rest peacefully of natural causes on July 8, 2025, surrounded by her family in Robertsdale, Alabama. Born on December 10, 1937, in Laurel, Mississippi, Jerrie’s long and full life was defined by her deep love for family, enduring faith in Christ, and her quiet dignity.

Jerrie married the love of her life, Sidney E. Doggett, in 1958, beginning a partnership marked by devotion, perseverance, and mutual respect. As a proud and steadfast military wife, Jerrie supported Sidney throughout his distinguished 21-year career with the U.S. Air Force, making countless sacrifices along the way. Together, they raised five beloved daughters: Patricia A. Koelzer (Bob Koelzer, Las Vegas, NV), Pamela L. Wilson, Angelia J. Patrick (John Patrick, Roanoke, VA) Susan M. Hemphill (Tim Hemphill, Oxford MS) and Melissa F. Rhodes (Jeff Rhodes, Robertsdale, AL) Jerrie’s pride in her daughters was immense, taking special care to nurture individual relationships with each one.

Family was at the heart of everything Jerrie did. She was the proud matriarch of a large and loving family—including 27 grandchildren, to include great-grandchildren as well as great-great-grandchildren—each of whom was treasured deeply. Jerrie’s home was a haven of love, laughter, and generosity; she always had a kind word, a helping hand, or a listening ear. “Tiny Memaw” never failed to place carefully folded money secretly into their pockets and whisper “now this is a just between you and I!”

Jerrie’s life was also enriched by painting, reading, and refinishing furniture—simple joys she shared with her loved ones. Jerry loved music, particularly hymns from her childhood. She was an avid reader, especially of the Bible, and a deeply committed Christian who found purpose in sharing her faith and guiding her family in the ways of Christ. She believed teaching her children and grandchildren about Jesus was her greatest gift to them.

Those who knew Jerrie remember her as shy yet dignified, with a unique sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was a loyal friend, a cherished neighbor, and—above all—a loving grandmother. “She was the sweetest soul I’ve ever known,” recalled by her grandson, Hunter Harrington, a sentiment echoed by all.

Jerrie is survived by her husband, Sidney E. Doggett, her five daughters, her siblings Jane Blackledge (Al Blackledge, Elk City, OK) Emmett Daniel “Danny” Hunt, (Teresa Hunt, Dacula, GA) and Bobby Hunt, (Mary Hunt, Aulander, NC) as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews that love and adore “Aunt Jerrie”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stella and John D. Hunt, and siblings Maurice Lowery Hunt, John D. “Sonny” Hunt, Joseph Wayne “Happy” Hunt, Edna Janice “Sandy” Hunt, and Sybil Anne Harvard.

A service to honor Jerrie’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Memory Gardens in Fairhope, Alabama, with Wolfe-Bay Funeral Chapel overseeing arrangements. Her kindness, faith, and love will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
