Jimmy Colbert Dunn

Born September 1, 1933, Jim passed away in his sleep, in Fairhope, AL, on June 2, 2025, as peacefully as he lived his life.

Animal lover, world traveler, avid reader and retainer of all information, he was the eldest of six siblings and proud husband and father. He had two successful daughters, Karen (New Orleans) and Katherine Renee, with his amazing wife, Virginia.

Jim had an adventurous life full of laughter and teasing, reading and learning. In the Air Force he learned telecommunications and served in the Korean War, stationed in Japan. He completed his 20-year service tenure in the U.S. Department of State, Foreign Service, serving as the Telecommunications Officer in many different US embassies overseas. He and Virginia raised their daughters in this environment, instilling in them the work ethic and love for new experiences that would serve them both well.

After retirement, wanderlust remained, so Jim and Virginia toured the USA and Canada for 10 years in their motor home, returning to their home base in Fairhope, AL between road trips. Even after the motor home years, Jim and Virginia remained active, thoroughly enjoying walking and biking along Mobile Bay for many years.

Jimmy is survived by Virginia, Karen and Kathy, the family cats, two sons-in-law, one brother Bill Dunn, one sister Mary Moore Lacoste, ten nieces and nephews, and their many children.

Rest in Peace "Hop-on-Pop."
