John Hope Badger, 81, of Foley Alabama, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was born on March 10, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, son of Lordest and Ruby Lee Phillips Badger.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Miller Badger, of 38 years, loving sisters, B.J. Brown and Peggy Andrews, of Baltimore, Maryland, and stepsons Troy Crum of Foley, Alabama, and Brady Crum and wife Christine, of Mapleton Depot, Pennsylvania, and countless loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother Levin Badger and sisters Shirley Warren, Joan Ebert, Patsy Vincent, Norma Mae Badger, Sandy Wheeler, and Ruby Saunders.
John was a self-educated man, who received numerous certifications in maintenance and facilities. He worked his way through the ranks holding various positions within the Maryland State Government and retired after 33 years as a facilities manager. In his early years, John was instrumental in the implementation of the new terminal at Baltimore Washington International Airport and an electrician at the Baltimore Dry Dock.
John was awarded a certification in communication and leadership from Toastmasters International, where he learned to communicate publicly and across multiple levels of leadership. He was a natural communicator, whose passion for sharing knowledge followed him to his final days.
John and his wife moved from Sykesville, Maryland to Foley, Alabama in 2008, where they immediately fell in love with the area and the community. John enjoyed his time outside creating beautiful landscapes, watching football, playing trivia and Texas Hold’em with his friends. But what he enjoyed most was spending time with his wife Cathy, whom he adored.
John will forever be in our hearts and greatly missed.
A Mass will be held for family and friends on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 10AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley, Alabama followed by a Celebration of Life and luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Baldwin County Animal Shelter (BCAS) in John’s memory.
