John Lawrence Wolfe
March 24, 1950 - April 21, 2026
John Lawrence Wolfe passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at home in Orange Beach, Alabama surrounded by his adoring family. He was 76 years old.
John was born March 24, 1950, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the second child of Hilliard Hudson Wolfe, Jr. & Lillian Staten Cannon. He was a 1968 graduate of Monroe High School and a 1972 graduate of University of North Carolina Charlotte where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration at UNC Charlotte soon after.
John began his professional career working for Cessna before moving through the ranks in his career with General Motors. In the early ‘90s, he built a family cabin in Calera, Alabama on 200 acres of land. He used this land to bless others and share his love of the outdoors. Outside of his career, he loved golfing, fishing and boating in the Gulf, and spending time with his dear friends and family. He retired from his over 40 year career with General Motors and Ivan Leonard Chevrolet in 2017 and spent his golden years in Orange Beach, Alabama, enjoying the gulf coast and sharing this blessing with his cherished friends and family.
John was a wonderful dad, husband, brother, uncle, friend, Poppy, and beyond. He was upstanding and forever loyal. He always took care of those he loved and was a wonderful provider for his family. He was a deep lover of animals, always caring for dogs and cats and passing this love on to his children.
John is survived by his loving wife and life-long partner Vicki Wolfe, their 5 children: Lee Wolfe (Layne), Mary Rachel Wolfe Heard (Joel), Tyler Brooks (Wendy), Lindsey Brooks, and John David Brooks (Brannon), and his four grandchildren: Evan, Barrett, Graham, and Alexa, who loved their “Poppy” dearly. He is also survived by his adoring siblings Mary Williams Remaley, Candy Jones Tate, and Wick Wolfe and their families. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, and his cherished and deeply missed older brother Hilliard Hudson Wolfe III.
According to John’s wishes, the family will plan a private memorial on the Gulf at a later date.
