Joseph Harold Hearon

d. December 10, 2022

Joseph Harold Hearon, 89, of Fairhope, Alabama passed away on December 10, 2022. Joe (Bill) was born on March 21, 1933, to Robert and Chaste Hearon in Thomasville, Alabama. He graduated from Thomasville High School and joined the Navy in 1951 and was assigned to the USS Passumpsic. He fought in the Korean War and talked fondly of the travels he experienced and friends he made during this time. After being Honorably Discharged from the Navy in 1955 he began to work for South Central Bell Telephone Company in Mobile where he lived. He married Mary Moorer on June 10, 1960. After more than 37 years with the phone company, Joe retired at the age of 60 so he could travel and spend more time with his family. Soon after retirement, he moved to Daphne with his wife Mary so that he could be close to his daughter and grandchildren. He relocated to Fairhope four years ago. A true Southern Gentleman, Joe was kind, polite, and thoughtful of others. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger! Sitting and talking with people and listening to their stories was one of his favorite pastimes. Joe was a member of the Radio Club where he made many close friends. Joe looked forward to his weekly Wednesday lunches with his friends. He was a Mason and was a member of the Fairhope Lodge where he enjoyed attending meetings for many years. He was a lifelong learner and remained curious about the world until the very end. He was devoted to his family and friends and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Joe (Bill) was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Moorer Hearon, his parents, Robert and Chaste Hearon, his 12 brothers and sisters, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is survived by his daughters, Katrina (Charles) Renfroe and Cindy (Ron) Stouffer, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.
