Joy Boykin, born on September 3, 1942, in Robertsdale, Alabama, passed away on July 20, 2025. A beloved figure in her community, Joy was known for her engaging wit, caring nature, and indomitable spirit. As the owner of Joy’s By The Bay, a women’s clothing boutique, she brought style and joy to many, leaving a lasting impact on her customers and friends.
Joy's life was characterized by her unwavering love of family and her dedication to her church, where she was an active servant. The love she had for her husband was passionate, devoted and infinite. They enjoyed life to the fullest together! She took great pride in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, endlessly cherishing the moments spent with her loved ones. Family travel adventures filled her heart with joy, creating treasured memories.
Joy was a talented gardener and seamstress, finding peace in nurturing both plants and the art of sewing. Her interests extended to baking and reading, pursuits that brought comfort and creativity into her life. Among her proudest accomplishments was her commitment to the Comfort Sewer’s group at Jubilee Shores United Methodist Church, where she made a difference in the lives of many.
Joy is survived by her loving husband, Joseph "Chubby" Boykin; daughters Nancy Dunn (Robert) and Daphne Perkins (Pete); son Joe Frank Boykin (Stacy); granddaughters Rachel Hallman (Jason), Brittyne Kennington (Eric), Ashton Cooper (Josh), and Taylor Pitkins (Chris); grandsons Drake Boykin and Chase Boykin; and a host of great-grandchildren, including Jaxon Hallman, Lexie Hallman, Micah Kennington, Luca Kennington, Camilla Kennington, Rynn Cooper, Charlotte Pitkins, Maggie Pitkins, and Sadie Boykin.
She is also survived by her brothers Richard Wallace, Jimmy Wallace, and Billy Wallace, who remember her with deep affection.
Joy has been reunited in eternal rest with her great-granddaughter Annika Hallman, her brother Frankie Wallace, sisters Sally Bennett, Louise Billups, and Ruby Woods, who will be remembered fondly.
Joy Boykin's legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to resonate with all who knew her. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of her family and friends.
