Joyce Omera Peoples

Joyce Omera Gilbert Peoples, 74, a resident of Foley, Alabama, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Omera was a member of the Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit in Sacramento, CA. for many years. She was instrumental in service readings and developing all of the weekly services. One of Omera’s most cherished memories, was when she was honored, with being named Mother of Faith by the Nigerian Council.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lela Joyce & William G. Gilbert.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Peoples of Foley, AL; sister, Sarah Gilbert Powell of Pass Christian, MS; brother, William Daniel Gilbert of Lefors, TX.; nieces, Melissa Newton (Curtis), Rebecca (Edward) Hopson, and Caitlin Powell; and nephew, Damyane Gilbert; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home in Foley, AL. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00pm.

The family will begin receiving friends for Visitation starting at 12:00noon.

A private Interment will follow.
