SPANISH FORT, ALABAMA
Kashi Nath Misra passed away peacefully in the company of his family on August 30, 2025, in Spanish Fort, Alabama, at the age of 83.
Born on February 10, 1942, in Calcutta, India to the late Tej Shankar Mishra and Rajdulari Mishra, Kashi lived a life defined by courage, dedication, responsibility, and selfless devotion to his family. He was a man who truly grounded himself in home and family, offering a reliable, available presence that made it difficult to imagine a world without him.
In a bold move that characterized his spirit, he gave up a stable job in his home country to obtain additional training and experience in the industry of hospitality and management. He traveled and worked in countries such as Germany, England, Switzerland, Canada to name a few. His pursuit of excellence and success ultimately led him to the United States where he met his wife of 43 years, Donna Misra. They started a family, settled in Spanish Fort, Alabama, and in 1991 he obtained his US citizenship. Regardless of where he was, as the eldest son, he always supported his family in India, built them two homes, supported multiple marriages, helped his brothers open a printing press and general store, and sponsored his nephew Shikher Mishra to study and establish residency in the US. Personally, he had a love for gardening, fruit trees, swimming, spending time outside, mindfulness meditation, and cooking. Professionally, for 55+ years, he was dedicated to his profession of hospitality and hotel management and expected excellence and perfection from those around him. Overall, in all domains he operated within, he truly was "The Manager"—a capable, respected, and commanding presence. Yet, he was selfless, never asking for much beyond the well-being and happiness of his loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Misra; his loving daughter and son, Tiffany and Arun Misra, and their families; and his close family, Shikher Mishra and his family.
He is also survived by his siblings: Manorama Dey, Madan Lal Mishra, Raj Kumar Mishra, Kanti Shukla, and Malti Tiwari.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mano Shankari Mishra, Shanti Pandey, and Laxmi Narayan Mishra.
A memorial service to celebrate Kashi's life will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00am at the Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
