Kay Ou Wing passed away on April 6th, 2026, at the age of 88. He is survived by his daughter Ly Ung, son-in-law Chee Seng Ng, grandchildren Connie and Kevin Ng; daughter Bouy Keith, son-in-law Bill Keith, grandson Steven Chin; daughter Hear Ung, grandchildren Melanie and Richard Lim, and daughter Kim Ung, son-in-law Xiao Peng Cai, grandson James Cai, granddaughter-in-law Ruili Lin, grandson David Cai, and great grandchildren Aria and Brysen Cai.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Chhong An Ung, who passed away 6 years earlier on the same date and time, April 6th, 2020. She was buried on April 11th, 2020. He will be buried beside her on April 11th, 2026. They were hardly seen without each other in life and are bonded forever even after death.
Many people in the community know Kay and An from New South China, the Chinese restaurant that was located on Hwy 98 from 1990 until their retirement in 2007. An was often behind the front counter and became the face of their restaurant. However, it was Kay’s cooking that brought their restaurant to life from behind the kitchen doors. Their love and commitment fed the small town of Daphne, Alabama for almost two decades.
After retirement, Kay’s favorite activities became playing basketball at the local YMCA or getting coffee at Waffle House where he would often run into customers asking when he would come out of retirement so they could eat his food again. He will be dearly missed by his family and the community who grew up eating his cooking and spotting him around town.

The service for Kay will be held on April 11th, 2026, exactly 6 years after An's service. Visitation will be held from 8:00 until 9:30am, with a graveside service following at Jubilee Memorial Gardens.
