Lenelle Ann Malbrough Campbell, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Fairhope, Alabama, on August 19, 2026, just shy of her 89th birthday. Born on August 26, 1937, in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was raised in Houma, Louisiana.
Lenelle was the cherished daughter of Howard Paul Malbrough and Laura LeCompte Malbrough, both of whom preceded her in death. Lenelle’s legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her son, Craig Campbell, Sr. (Debora), her 2 daughters, Carrie Campbell Pittman (Jeffery) and Carla Campbell Gary (Jim); her 5 grandchildren, Craig Campbell, Jr. (Heidi), Alicia Campbell, Matthew Pittman (Valerie), Megan Pittman Blackwell (Joshua) and Catherine Gary Oppliger (Robert); her 11 great-grandchildren, Nora, Magnus, Isaac & Esther Campbell, Sofia, Henry & Rhys Pittman, Lucy & Parker Blackwell, Paxton & Grayson Oppliger.
Her adult life was beautifully shaped by her devotion to her family. Lenelle was a dedicated stay-at-home mother while her children were growing up. When she was 41 years old, Lenelle pursued her passion for helping others by becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Lenelle began her nursing career at West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, Louisiana. She continued her vocation at Terrebonne General Hospital in Houma, Louisiana, and later at The Oaks of Houma Nursing Home. Throughout her career, Lenelle touched countless lives with her gentle bedside manner and commitment to excellence in care.
Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Lenelle found joy in numerous hobbies. She had a deep love for gardening, surrounding herself and others with vibrant, flowering plants. She also loved craft projects from sewing to embroidery.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Fairhope on Monday, September 14th at 11:00 am. A short visitation will begin at 10:00 am.
