Libby Jean Chavous

Libby Jean Chavous, 68, a lifelong resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was an avid Auburn fan; loved outdoors, including hunting. Libby was a loving mother and “LaLa”, as known to her grandchildren; and will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tweed and Maxine Childress and her husband, David Chavous, Jr.

Libby leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Shauna (Barclay) Chavous and Samantha (Stephanie) Newsome; son, Billy David (Mariah) Chavous, III; brothers, Darryl Childress and John Eric (Patti) Childress; sister, Marie Childress (Joey Bragg); grandchildren, Allana, Jace, Jeremiah and Callaghan; nephews, Colby Childress and Bailey Childress all of Fairhope; and numerous other relatives and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, from 5:00 until 8:00pm

Funeral services to celebrate Libby’s life will be held in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Brook-Cedron Cemetery.
