Linda Montgomery Barnett, 80, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on October 3, 2026. She was born on August 11, 1946.
Linda was a woman of remarkable strength, determination, faith, and joy. She dedicated much of her life to caring for others through her work in respiratory therapy. Linda began the first Respiratory Therapy Department at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama. After many years there, she continued her career working with Dr. Johnson and Dr. Box, anesthesiologists in Mobile. Later, Linda established her own respiratory therapy practice at Mercy Medical in Daphne, Alabama.
Linda was also a member of two Mystic societies, one in Mobile and one in Fairhope. She loved people and had a gift for bringing joy wherever she went. She was always the life of the party, and her laughter, warmth, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Above all, Linda’s greatest mission in life, after her husband and daughter, was her faith. Her relationship with God was at the center of who she was. Linda loved her church and was passionate about sharing her faith and bringing others to Christ. She devoted herself to ministry and reaching people who needed hope and encouragement, including women’s prison ministry and participating in Kairos ministry for 15 years. She was a former member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne and a current member of the Church of the Apostles in Fairhope.
Linda’s greatest legacy will be the many lives she touched through her work, her faith, and her love for others. She encouraged, prayed for, and helped lead many people to Christ. She lived her faith openly and joyfully, always wanting others to experience the love of God that meant so much to her.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Barnett, and her daughter, Monica Felton.
She is survived by her brother, Doug Montgomery (Vicki); her grandchildren, LeeAnn Cink (Paul), Chad Felton (Nikki), and Will Felton (Hailey); and her three great-grandchildren, Miles, Natalie, and Kennedy Cink.
Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services for Linda and her beloved husband, Jerry, on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Apostles in Fairhope,
Alabama, in honor of Linda’s lifelong devotion to her faith and her passion for bringing others to Christ.
Linda will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to her family, her dedication to helping others, and her unforgettable ability to bring laughter and life into every room she entered. Her life was a testament to love, service, and faith, and her legacy will live on in the many hearts she touched.
