Linda Bell Hutchinson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and educator passed away on June 16, 2025, in Fairhope, Alabama. With a generous heart and enlightening spirit, she leaves behind a rich legacy forged through her profound impact on the lives she touched.
Born on November 28, 1940, in Fisk, Missouri, Linda excelled in her academic pursuits, graduating from the University of Central Arkansas before continuing her educational journey at Livingston University, where she earned her master’s degree. Her lifelong devotion to learning and teaching blossomed into a career that spanned many years, during which she served diligently as a high school counselor, teacher, and tennis coach in Washington County, Choctaw County, Mobile County, and concluded her career at Fairhope High School. Linda's commitment to nurturing the minds of her students and guiding them through their formative years was not only a profession but a profound calling, one that she embraced with grace and vigor. She was a beloved member of the Eastern Shore Choral Society. Linda loved singing, playing piano, playing tennis, and gathering with friends to play cards. Linda was also deeply rooted in her faith and cherished her entire church family.
In her personal life, Linda was a devoted mother to her two children, Donna (Kim) Nolte and Scott (Lori Cramton) Hutchinson. She cherished her role as a grandmother to her five grandchildren—Colin Ingraham, Rachel Ingraham (Charles) Wallace, Hadley Hutchinson, Webb (Allie) Hutchinson, and Mackenzie Nolte—who were the lights of her life. The love she fostered within her family was only matched by the joy she brought to her friends and relatives, which included two brothers, Larry (Royia) Bell and Don (Elaine) Bell, a sister, Diane (Bill) Johnston, along with dear nieces, nephews, and a multitude of cherished friends.
In 1962, Linda married her late husband, Owen B. "Bernie" Hutchinson in Arkansas. They were married for 47 years before his untimely passing in 2009. Linda's love and adoration of Bernie was evident to all and left a lasting legacy to her children and grandchildren. Though her husband, Bernie and grandson Colin Ingraham have preceded her in passing, the memories of their shared laughter and joy endure in the hearts of those left behind.
As we reflect on Linda's life, we celebrate a remarkable journey marked by wisdom, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to family. Though she has left this earthly life, her family and friends find extraordinary peace knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
