Lizzie Kalean Harris

Lizzie Kalean Harris, a beloved member of her community known for her warm spirit and unwavering devotion to family, passed away on April 23, 2026, at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama. Born on April 20, 1951, Lizzie dedicated her life to both her career and her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, compassion, and a commitment to service.

Ms. Harris’s professional endeavors were primarily focused on house cleaning and child rearing, roles in which she found profound purpose and fulfillment. A student of dentistry at one stage in her life, she possessed a keen intellect and a thirst for knowledge that complemented her hardworking nature. Her love of reading and plants reflected her gentle personality and provided her with solace and joy throughout her years.

Known to many as the most jovial and loving individual, Lizzie had the unique ability to bring people together across generations. One of the fondest memories cherished by those around her involved her habit of sitting the younger ones down for conversations free from the distractions of modern cell phones. Among them are her sisters Elnora Harris Gill, Dorothy (Leo) Dixon, and Helen Harris; brothers Curtis (Cassandra) Harris, Anthony (Sandie) Harris, Henry Harris, Kenneth (Pegan) Harris, and Darrell Harris; as well as Betty (Floyd) Blevins. Their love and support testify to the strong family ties Lizzie cultivated throughout her life.

Lizzie’s passing also marks the loss of one who was predeceased by her parents, Curtis and Lillian Harris, and several siblings: Willie Harris, Freddie Mae Young, Jean Dupree, Alice Sapp, and Lizzie Harris.

Her enduring spirit, love of books and nature, and dedication to her family define the life of Lizzie Kalean Harris.
