Louis was born on April 17, 1934, in Columbia, Mississippi, to Rossie Hardy Herrington and Laura Waltman. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nellie Tucker Herrington, and his sister, Tanzy Buchanan.


He is survived by his sons, Rossie Herrington, Kenneth Herrington, and Christopher Herrington; his brother, Jerry Whittom; and extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.


Louis was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a radar technician aboard the Destroyer Class U.S.S. Renshaw. During his service, he was present for Operation Castle Bravo and witnessed the historic hydrogen bomb test.


Known for his gentle nature, kindness, and warm sense of humor, Louis left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His steady presence and thoughtful spirit will be deeply missed by his family and friends.


Burial will take place at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Services will be private.
