Ret. Lieutenant Colonel Johnny M. Virgin passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025.
He was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada September 1, 1951.
His parents John C Virgin and Alice Koontz Virgin preceded him in death. His brother Leroy passed away in 2020.
Johnny is survived by his daughter Destiny Alexandra Virgin Cid.
Johnny graduated from Porta High School in 1969 Petersburg Illinois. Johnny joined the Illinois National Guard in October 1969 as a private. For 12 years Johnny worked for the Social Security Administration. Johnny graduated with Bachelors Degree in Business from McKendree College Lebanon Illinois. In April 1973 Johnny attended the Infantry Officer Candidate course at Fort Benning, Georgia and was commissioned a 2d Lieutenant. Johnny maintained his military service in the US Army reserve until he reported for Active Duty in September 1985. His assignments included Louisville, Kentucky Ft. Bragg North Carolina Fort Bliss Texas (2 tours) and Fort Buchanan Puerto Rico. During his military service he completed many military schools. He retired with 24 years of Active Duty service. He retired in July 2003. Johnny enjoyed traveling and was a fluent Spanish speaker. He lived in Medellin, Colombia, South America for 7 years and returned to the USA in 2014.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11:00am in Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL.
