Margaret Womack Markris

Margaret Womack Markris, lovingly known as Lady Margaret, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama, at the age of 79. She was born on January 1, 1947, in Gadsden, Alabama.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Augustus (Gus) Markris. Margaret leaves behind a beautiful family legacy, featuring four beloved children: Julie Papadelias (Thomas), Mary Archer (Kevin), Christina Mulhern (Paul) and Deanna Markris (Troy). Margaret was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also loved and cherished by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Floria Womack, and her beloved son, Troy Markris. The loss of Margaret will be felt deeply, but her spirit will continue to live on in all who loved her.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Presentation of Theotokos Malbis Memorial Church at 12:30pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort.
