Mary Elizabeth Rockwell

Mary Elizabeth Williams Rockwell, age 88, a native of Fruitdale, AL and a longtime resident of Montrose, AL, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, with her loving family at her side.

Mrs. Rockwell graduated from Fruitdale High School in 1952.She received her nursing degree from Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing in 1956.  She married the love of her life on July 14, 1956. Elizabeth was a member of the Montrose Garden Club since 1967, where she served as president in 1999 and 2002. She was also a member of the Montrose Historic Preservation Society. Elizabeth and L. E. were avid supporters of the Fairhope Schools and Fairhope High School athletics. Elizabeth was an honorary member of the Fairhope High School Band and served as band nurse for several years. She was a Fairhope High School Trustee and past president of the PTA. In the age old southern tradition, Mrs. Rockwell was a tried and true fan of Alabama Football.

Mrs. Rockwell was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. L. E. Rockwell, Jr, twin sons Kent and Trent Rockwell, parents Braxton and Essie Williams, and sister, Bobbie Rodgers.

She is survived by her children: Steve Rockwell (Lynn), Susie Carpenter (David), Randy Rockwell (Robbie), Lee Rockwell, and Bragg Rockwell (Sarah); her grandchildren: Lauren Shugart (Shaun), Leah Goodwin (Jarrett), Kayli Pharr (Daniel), Brooke Killebrew (Mark), Casey Bradley (Taylor), Courtney Cauley (Jordan), Carrighan Rockwell, Ryley Rockwell, Mary Emma Pitman (Clay), McLean Rockwell, Ellie Rockwell, and Jack Rockwell; 11 great grandchildren: Hampton, Rayford, Anne Weston, Caroline, Reagan, Lily Kate, Baker, Briggs, Weller, MacKenzie, and Mary Randall; sisters: Frances Bung and Inez Ishmael; sisters-in-law: Anita Carner and Cheryl Rawls; numerous nieces, nephews, many loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:00am. The family will receive friends from 9:00am until the service time.

Interment will follow in Montrose Cemetery.
