Mary Lucile Humphreys, 87, of Foley, Alabama

Mary Lucile Humphreys, born May 2, 1938, in Birmingham, Alabama, passed away in Robertsdale, Alabama, after a life devoted to caring, generosity, and service. She last resided in Foley, Alabama.

Mary was an extremely caring and supportive person, strong-willed and generous. and served as a second mother to many. She had a deep impact on everyone she met, offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional support.

Her professional career spanned more than 40 years in recreation and therapeutic recreation, serving communities in Homewood, Montgomery, Prichard, and Mobile, Alabama. She worked at Spain Rehabilitation Facility and Lakeshore Facility, providing compassionate care to individuals with spinal injuries. Mary also served as president of the National Miss Wheelchair of America Pageant and founded the Alabama Miss Wheelchair chapter. She attended the University of Montevallo and graduated from the University of Alabama.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her cats and collecting Japanese memorabilia. As a devoted Christian, she lived her faith through acts of kindness and service to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Randolph Humphreys Jr, and Alice Monks Humphreys; her sister, Kerra Virginia Riley, and her brother James Rudolph Humphreys, III.

She is survived by her brother, Frederick Kenneth Humphreys; nephews, Joshua Sallin, Tim Humphreys, and Brian Humphreys; and great-nephews and great-nieces, Aiden Sallin, Bella Sallin and Maddie Humphreys.
