Mary Angela Sessel, affectionately known as Angie, departed this world too soon on December 10, 2025, in Orange Beach, Alabama, at the age of 61. Born on June 9, 1964 in Columbia, Missouri, Angie was a beacon of kindness and a caring soul who dedicated her life to her family after a successful early career in the electronics industry.
Angie's journey into motherhood marked a turning point in her life, one filled with love and devotion as she embraced her role as a wife and mother. She shared a beautiful 40-year marriage with her loving husband, Hilton Sessel, creating a home that was a haven for their children. Together, they nurtured their son Sean and daughter Megan (married to Chris Tillman), who would grow to surround themselves with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Angie welcomed her grandson, Archer Tillman, with open arms and a heart brimming with pride.
A truly compassionate and tender individual, Angie was admired for her well-mannered presence and her ability to make everyone feel valued. Her home was a reflection of her spirit, always decorated with joy during the holidays, transforming special occasions into lasting memories for her family. She was generous to the core, always ensuring that everything was in place for those she loved. Her spirited nature was evident in her passion for animals, especially her beloved German Shepherd, Seymour, who will also miss her dearly.
Angie’s caring touch extended beyond her immediate family; she was lucky enough to have strong bonds with her siblings and her mother, Mary Catherine Pfeiffer. She is survived by her devoted sisters, Becky Howell and Julie Curtis, and her brothers Andrew Curtis and Mike Polino (as well as Mike's wife Kathy). The loss of their beloved sister Amy Coxe, who passed away last year after a long battle with cancer, adds a layer of bittersweet remembrance to the family.
Alongside her loving family, Angie was also blessed with close friends like Jan and Bill Guilfoyle, who shared in her laughter and joys throughout her life. She enjoyed watching football, playing tennis, and spending time with those she loved. She also enjoyed reading books and sharing them with her children, as evidenced by the libraries she had built in the houses she called home.
As we remember Angie, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and the beautiful impact she had on everyone she met. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be profoundly missed by both them and Seymour, whose unwavering loyalty mirrored her own. Angie's gentle spirit and loving nature will forever hold a special place in those fortunate enough to have known her.
A devoted Christian all her life, she converted to Catholicism along with Megan in 2009. She's with Amy in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where she is smiling down on us with all of the grace and love that carried her through her earthly journey.
A Catholic Requiem Mass will take place on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Thomas by the Sea located at 26547 Perdido Beach Blvd, Orange Beach, AL 36561.
