Mateo Pozo

Mateo Esteban Pozo-Astudillo, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the age of 23.

He was a graduate of Fairhope High School, a soccer star, and a beloved student. He was always smiling and happy and was the life of the party.  He attended Springhill college, on a soccer scholarship, then transferred to UAB.

Mateo is survived by his wife, Sophia Pozo; son, Roman Pozo; a baby Pozo due in November; mother, Maritza and Nader EL Salibi, all of Fairhope; father, Esteban Pozo of Ecuador; sisters, Sophia EL Salibi and Dahlia EL Salibi, both of Fairhope; maternal grandparents, Luis Astudillo and Rosa Lopez; paternal grandparents, Cristobal Pozo and Jenny Capelo all of Ecuador; and numerous beloved relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, from 4:00 until 9:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024, in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, at 2:00pm. The family will begin receiving friends at 9:00am.
