Melba Lucia Lindsay, a resident of Magnolia Springs Alabama, passed away Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born in Colombia, S.A. to the late Emilio and Maria Murillo.
She was a member of Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham, and earlier, at Saint Sylvester Catholic Church in Navarre, FL. She was formerly employed at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham and Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola as a medical laboratory technologist.
Melba was a beloved stepmother, step-grandmother and step-great-grandmother. She was always doing things for others and cared for her husband for many years as he succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. She had a wry sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. She loved dancing and had a beautiful singing voice. Her heart was full of love for everyone, especially her family.
Melba was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Raymond H. Lindsay, who died in Sept. 2014; and her mother Maria Murillo, who died in Feb. 2019. She became a U.S. citizen after her marriage to Dr. Lindsay in 1984.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Gary (Sheryl) Lindsay of Magnolia Springs, AL.; Scott (Lisa) Lindsay of Tallahassee, FL.; Philip (Debbie) Lindsay of Palmetto, Fl.; Debbie (Larry) Stewart of Weaver, Al.; and Patricia (Bruce Von Hagen) Tatum of Hoover, AL.; 11 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service to honor Melba’s life, will be held Saturday August 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
