"Mike" ~ Michael Joseph Bishop

Mike Bishop, 68, of Daphne, AL, tragically passed away on June 1st, 2024. He was excitedly awaiting the opening day of shrimp season when his boat, “Old Navy”, was caught in a storm on Mobile Bay.

Mike was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather but most importantly, a follower of Christ and a “Fisher of Men”. (Matthew 4:19 ESV)

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, David Delanor Bishop and Doris Pose Bishop and his father-in-law, Charles Folkes.

He is survived by his wife Joy (Folkes) Bishop of Daphne; his mother-in-law, Janice (Pitts) Folkes; his children, Brandon (Cheryl) Bishop of Lillian, Amethyst (Michael) Spear of Jack, AL, and Jessica (Michael) Douglas of Fairhope, his siblings David (Sheila) Bishop, Jr., Vickie (Larry) Young, Tommy (Vonnie) Bishop, his grandchildren, Harleigh Wood, Teaghan Sharpe, Dariene (Zechariah) Knowles, Emma Douglas, Charlotte Douglas, six great-grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. 

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Daphne Search and Rescue, The U.S. Coast Guard, The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, The Fairhope Police Department, and every Good Samaritan that aided in the search and rescue.
