It is with sadness and reverence we announce the passing of Michael Paul White, lovingly known as Mike, who left this earthly realm on March 9, 2026. Born on December 8, 1942, in the District of Columbia, Mike's life was one woven intricately with threads of passion, commitment, and genuine kindness.
Mike's career was defined by his steadfast dedication to academic data processing and technical support management, a journey that took root in Southern California and culminated after over 20 years at George Washington University’s School of Engineering. However, it was the love for his family that truly encapsulated the essence of Mike’s spirit. He held a deep-seated passion for family ties, meticulously curating familial histories and records with a zeal that sometimes left his home cluttered—a delightful chaos that his wife, Lynn, often raised her eyebrows at but loved nonetheless.
Education played a pivotal role in Mike's life. He began his academic journey at Bridgewater College in Virginia, eventually earning a degree in Economics from the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB). This foundation not only shaped his career but undoubtedly enriched the conversations and gatherings that filled his home with love and laughter.
The annual family reunion in Arkansas was a cherished tradition of over 100 years, a time when the branches of the family tree came together to share stories and create lasting memories. As the family historian, Mike took pride in preserving each moment, weaving a narrative that would be passed down through generations. It is this legacy of unity and love that will linger long after his departure.
Music was another component of Mike’s heart. His fascination with gospel music and the history of hymns allowed him to connect deeply with others, sharing his love for melodies that uplifted spirits. He embraced all types of music, just as he embraced all people. Thoughtful, considerate, and exceedingly kind, Mike touched the lives of those around him, carving out a special place in the hearts of many.
Mike's proudest accomplishments were not in accolades or titles but rather in the myriad ways he chose to help others. His volunteer work at Shepherd's Place, a local community hub, showcased his innate generosity. Recently appointed to its board, he had committed to making a difference in the lives of those around him. For years, he served as a Stephen Minister, offering support and compassion where it was needed most. His time spent working with young children at the Rotary Youth Club amplified this spirit of giving, where he tirelessly aided them with homework and reading skills.
Mike leaves behind a cherished family who will continue to carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn; his son, James White, and daughter-in-law, Janessa; his daughter, Michelle White Patrizio, and son-in-law, Bill; his son, Keith Bailey, and daughter-in-law, Kim; and his daughter, Marla Bailey Rutherford, and son-in-law, David. Alongside them are seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched so profoundly.
As we celebrate the life of Michael Paul White, we remember a man who was truly a treasure—one who loved deeply, gave generously, and lived passionately. He will be profoundly missed but his spirit, like the hymns he adored, will continue to resonate within our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Church of the Apostles (7159 McIntyre Street, Montrose) or Rotary Youth Club (19128 Young Street, Fairhope).
