Nelda Joy Bemis

Nelda Joy Bemis was born on 8 October 1936 at her home in Bon Secour. She passed away at the same location on 18 September 2026 at the age of 89. After attending Swift and Foley Schools, she served in the Marines for four years. She later worked at Hazels Drive In and in and then Hazels Nook.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents; Walter Gavin Bemis and Margaret Eleanor Carver Bemis, her siblings; Carolyn Bemis (Oscar Allen), Vernon Bemis, Leroy Bemis, Van Bemis and Lonnie Bemis.

Nelda is survived by her Nieces and Janice Allen Hudson, Lavana Grantham (Eric), and Lee M Bemis (Nephew). Mary Lou Bemis (Sister in-law), Great Nieces & Nephews: Marsha Guess Combs (Woody). Michael Hamric (Angie), Christopher Hamric (Stephanie). Jonathan Hudson (Meghan), Gavin Grantham, Dylan Bemis.

She is survived by Great Nieces and Nephews: Tommy, Ricky, Maranda, Serenity, Saylor, Blaine, Allie, Braydon, Ava, Brooke, Hunter, and Great, Great Nephew Maverick and numerous cousins.
