Nelva Torres (1932 – 2026)

Nelva Torres, lovingly known to family and friends as “Manina,” age 93, a native of Guantánamo, Cuba, and a longtime resident of Daphne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Manina lived a life defined by strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family. From her early years in Cuba to establishing her home in the United States, she carried with her a deep sense of cultural pride, strong values, and an enduring spirit of determination. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose kindness, faith, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Isabel Bertran, and her beloved husband, Manuel Torres.

Manina is lovingly survived by her children, Nelva Jimenez, widow of the late Robert Jimenez, of Daphne, and Jorge Torres and his wife, Tanja, of Fairhope; her grandchildren, Derrick Jimenez and his wife, Heather, of Daphne, and Samantha Hendley and her husband, Robby, of Fairhope; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Daevyon, Isabella, and Zayde Jimenez, and Mila and Isla Hendley. She is also survived by her sister, Iraida B. Medrano, age 99, of Daphne, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes in Daphne. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Jubilee Memorial Gardens in Daphne, Alabama.
