Randall Lynn Raney

d. June 21, 2023

Randall Lynn Raney, of Gulf Shores, was born in Huntsville, Alabama on March 6, 1944, and passed away peacefully at his home on June 21, 2023. He was proceeded in death by his parents Cecil and Pauline Raney, one adored brother Cecil Raney, and three special brothers in law. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years Barbara Hughes Raney, four children Sandy Klaesius, Joe Wilson, Jr. (Wanda), Randy Raney, Jr., Jennifer Nix (Steven), his grandchildren Maggie Green (Connor), Charlie Klaesius, Logan Nix, Wesley Raney, Tucker Nix, Connor Raney, Jack Wilson, one great granddaughter Goldie, one sister Wanda Raney Taylor (James), four sister in laws, a multitude of precious nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Randy, as he was known to his friends and family and Grandy to his grandchildren, was a lifelong native of Huntsville and a graduate of Butler High School. He continued his education at Florence State College. He kept many of his same friends from Butler and Florence State throughout the duration of his life which speaks to how deeply he valued his personal relationships, as well as how much he cherished his hometown. He and Barbara shared a mutual love of the Alabama Gulf Coast where they eventually moved full time later in life. He was an accomplished salesman and an avid golfer. Along with golf, he enjoyed basketball and participated in both as long as he was physically able. He was a hilarious storyteller and had an infectious laugh. He was especially good at laughing at himself - an underrated trait! Whenever you left his house, he always stood outside until you were out of sight as to say, “until next time…”. It was a unique, outward sign of his love and endearment. “Until next time…” indeed. The family would like to thank their support system of amazing friends and extended family, especially the incredibly loving neighbors of Chelsi Lane in Gulf Shores and every kind caregiver at Springhill Hospice. A celebration of life will take place at a later date in Huntsville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to your local YMCA, playing a round of golf or taking a friend to lunch. All of which would be pleasing to Randy. ARRANGEMENTS BY WOLFE-BAYVIEW FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, INC. 2103 W. 1st Street GULF SHORES, AL. 36542 (251) 990-7775
