Rene' Ignatius Decossas

Rene' Ignatius Decossas was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 5, 1938, and passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in Spanish Fort, Alabama.

He served 21 years on the New Orleans Police Department before retiring as a Sergeant. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Rene' was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Virginia LaCiura Decossas, with whom he shared 70 beautiful years; his parents, Bartholomew Decossas and Thelma Gleason Decossas; a sister, Peggy Decossas Knotts; and a brother, Dwain Decossas. He is survived by his three children, Ginger Decossas, Jill Decossas Tomberlin (Robert), and Eric Decossas (Pam), as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Mr. Decossas be made to your favorite charity.
