 Richard Carl Hoffman, Jr. of Elberta, AL was born on October 6, 1940, to Richard, Sr. and Erma Hoffman. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 21, 2024, at the age of 83.  

 Living his entire life in the Miflin community, he was a Foley High School graduate (class of 1960).  Richard served six years with the Army National Guard as a switchboard operator for the Foley unit. He retired after 34 years at Fovil (Monsanto) in Foley. He was married to the love of his life, Barbara Keppler Hoffman, for 56 years. Richard was known for his talented gardening skills, growing all types of vegetables. Fishing was his other favorite hobby, as he would regularly walk to Hammock Creek to try and catch a speckled trout. He was an amazing father to his two children, supporting them in their endeavors.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; brother, Frank Hoffman; sister, Marie Majors; his children Leslie (Shawn) Gahagan and Richard (Jamie) Hoffman; grandchildren Colin (Chloe) Lassitter, Drew (Aquila) Lassitter, Morgan (Kai) Ozug, Emmy Lassitter, Addison Hoffman, Brantley Hoffman and Sadie Gahagan; great grandchildren Paisley, Brooks, Ronin and Zhara; longtime friends Charlie Keppler and Al Willingham; many nieces, nephews, friends and step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 A visitation will be held at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve Interpretive Center in Foley, AL, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 10:00 am. A graveside service will follow at Prince of Peace cemetery in Elberta, AL.
