Rita Ann Hays

Rita Ann Hays, a resident of Gulf Shores, AL, passed away on August 13, 2025 at 80 years old.

She was born in Topeka, KS in 1945 to Donald and Viola Ann Alexander, the first of her three siblings. Rita graduated valedictorian at Burden High School before attending Wichita Business College.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents Don and Ann Alexander and her sister Brenda Kay Rhodes; and is survived by her siblings Marcia (Cookie) Treffer and Richard Alexander, her children Dawn Edwards and Rick Hays, her six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Rita had a special way of making every person feel at home. Her door was always open to anyone, whether you were family, a friend, or stranger, she greeted you with warmth. She loved summer afternoons sitting on the porch, reading, or watching sports.

She will be greatly missed and remembered by all her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 18 at her home from 12 to 2pm to remember her life and legacy.
