Robert Charles Benyo, 80, of Gulf Shores Alabama passed away on October 30, 2026, after a brief battle with congested heart failure. He was born on July 3, 1946, in Passaic, New Jersey, and he spent his life making the people around him feel cared for, welcomed and loved.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. He went on to build a remarkable career with American Airlines retiring as Crew Chief in Aircraft Maintenance after 47 years. That kind of dedication said a lot about him - when Robert committed to something he gave it everything he had.

On January 20, 2013, Robert married Jill, the love of his life and his greatest passion. Together they built a beautiful home and a secure, nurturing family life, filled with laughter, adventure, and extensive travels that became some of their most treasured memories. Robert had a true gift forbuilding and decorating with a style that was fresh and modern. His favorite hobby was salvaging old, discarded items and giving them new life, and the home he and Jill shared still shows off his handiwork in every room.

Robert was a social man with many many friends and strangers rarely stayed strangers for long. His generosity reached everyone he met. He loved entertaining on the lanai and around the pool and each fall, family and friends eagerly looked forward to the bowl of his famous chili. It was at Robert’s awesome multiple theme parties, that were enjoyed by all, because of his light hearted sense of humor and endless joke telling. He was also a big supporter and trusted confident of Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft.

Perhaps nothing showed the size of Robert’s heart more than his love for animals. Over the years he rescued five beautiful dogs, Kokomo, Pebbles, Mindy, Max, and Monte and cherished each one until their passing. They are waiting for him now.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Jill, his stepdaughter Carolyn, his son-in-law Chris and his grandson Cavit Butler, his brother Joseph Benyo, his sister Karen Rood and their families. His love carried down through every one of them and it will continue to.

A man of quiet Christian faith Robert is now at rest and at peace. Cremation is being handled by Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home in Gulf Shores. There will be no service. A memorial ceremony celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 – 5:00 pm Friday, November 13, 2026, at 433 West Canal Drive, Gulf Shores, Alabama 36542.

In Jill’s words:

The love of my life forever. Till He and I and our five rescue puppies are together again with everlasting happiness together.
