An honored World War II and Korean War veteran, Robert Eugene “Bob” Worch, died on September 20, 2023, at the age of 96 years at the William F. Green State Veterans Home in Bay Minette, Alabama. He was born to Rosetta (McLear) and Charles Worch on December 27, 1926, in Darke County, OH. He was the oldest of three sons. The family moved near Middleboro, IN when he was 10 years old. After graduating from Whitewater High School, he was conscripted into the U.S. army. He served in the Philippines and Korea in WWII and was also on active duty in the Army Reserves during the Korean War. Upon his return after WWII, he met Viola Bernice “Bea” Ketring, whom he married on January 25, 1947, in Arba, IN. He loved her dearly until his death. Together, they had 3 children: Robert E., Jr. (1948), Randal L. (1952), and Eric A. “Rick” (1958). Bob was an executive in the manufacturing industry. He and Bea resided in several towns in Indiana including Frankfort and Jeffersonville. They moved to Russell, KY in 1978 where Bob retired from Pennco in 1992. The couple enjoyed most of their retirement years residing in The Villages in Lady Lake, FL. In 2019, they moved to Homestead Village in Fairhope, AL to be near their eldest son, Bob, Jr. Bob happily enjoyed the last few weeks of his life as a loved and active resident at the William F. Green State Veterans Home in Bay Minette, AL. Known for his ingenuity, Bob loved tackling real-world problems and inventing solutions in his workshop. He was also an avid golfer and member and Commander of The Villages Disabled American Veterans unit. Bob is survived by his wife, Bea, their three sons, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers (Ray J. and Bill B.). Bob’s military contributions will be honored, and his ashes interred at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL.
